detach - IllustrationFriday

this is my very 1st post for Friday illustration, which i couldn't post unfortunately...

Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great devotion in the August/September months, on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksh or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadon, in the whole of north India.

Janmaashtami, popularly known here as Dahi Handi celebrated with enormous zeal and enthusiasm,
during this ceremony a large earthenware pot is filled with milk, curds, butter, honey ect. Group of youngsters, called Govinda Pathaks ( Troupes of Lord Krishna) travel around in trucks trying to break as many handis as possible during the day.
this detachment of dahi(curd) and handi(pot) brings everyone together.

Welcome to "IF." It is never too late to post. This is a cool painting, I like the colors. It is also nice to have some insight into your culture.
